Inspired by The Zoe Report’s recent article “Style Resolutions Every Fashion Girl Should Girl Should Make for 2017” here are Iconic Details 2017 Style Resolutions:
#1 KNOW YOUR PERSONA
A new year has the potential for a new you. Ask yourself, who do you want to be this year? How will you show off your personality with your style? What’s missing from your wardrobe that would help you embrace the new you?
#2 MAKE A STATEMENT
We all know the impact a bad outfit can have on your day. Laying out your clothes the night before can almost guarantee a great day. Think about what you want to accomplish the next day and what outfit would support this. Do you need flexibility, a power suit or something timeless?
#3 ORGANIZE YOUR WARDROBE
Have you organized your closet recently? Does it inspire you to be creative with your style? Like a book, your closet should flow from left to right. Depending on how you pull together an outfit, your closet should be organized to reflect your process. Do you start with bottoms, to then match a top and jacket? Do you start with a top, to then match bottoms and shoes? Or, are you a shoe girl who builds a look based on which shoes you want to wear that day? Whatever your process is to building a great outfit your closet should reflect that as much as possible.
#4 DIVERSIFY YOUR COLLECTION
Your wardrobe is made up of 3 collections: your shoe, accessory and clothing collections. To often I come across closets that suffers from cotton-fever or having bought the same item in every color. To avoid these limiting issues, switch it up and be playful. Play with different textures, prints, color and fabrics. There are more fabrics than just cotton, you have leather, lace, linen, silk, knit, polyester and more. The more options you have the more things you can say with your wardrobe.
#5 ACCESSORIZE
Don’t be afraid to accessorize. Mixing metals, wearing sentimental pieces, mixing costume jewelry with the real deal are all ways of pulling an outfit together. It’s not enough to just get dressed, play with accessories. The question I am asked most when it comes to accessories is “what is the right necklace length?” A neckline is the frame to your face. Necklaces should lay within your neckline. Exceptions being turtlenecks, boat necks and cowl necks, with these necklines you can pair longer pendants and chains. No matter what, remember accessories should be fun so be playful and try something new.
#6 LOOK FOR THE DETAILS
Paying attention to the details is what sets the A-list apart from the rest. The basics elements to consider would be does it fit your body shape and flatter your personality. The advanced elements are examining a garments construction, design and finishes (zippers, buttons, sewn edges). It’s all in the details.
#7 CONSIDER YOUR BRANDING
If your anything like the conscious entrepreneurs I work with, being consistent and cohesive with your brand is a must. Your brand should have its own color palette, symbolism, industry and style. Embracing your brand into your personal style can be a helpful tool for impression management, personal branding, marketing and attracting new business.
#8 DON’T BUY IT IF YOU CAN’T THINK OF 3 WAYS TO WEAR IT
It’s pretty simple, if you can’t think of 3 ways to wear a garment, don’t buy it. A good wardrobe has versatility. Be creative and IF you find that “Oh my god” or “Wow” piece, then of course there are always exceptions to the this rule.
May these style resolutions help you to attract and manifest all your dreams this year. 2017 is the year to uplevel your personal brand and style in unapologetic ways. If your interested in creating a visual statement that aligns your internal essence with your everyday presence your personal style is the best place to start!

Will attack the closet this week. I follow the rule of a multipurpose wardrobe and learned to do that when I had no budget for clothes many years ago. Still narrowing down the look, but know Im getting closer. Thanks Ashley!
